The challenge?

To support the development of our team in Portugal, we are looking for an experienced, coastal engineer/geophysical scientist or oceanographer, preferable with a PhD in coastal resilience topics in which numerical modelling and/or physical modelling is integrated.

At HAEDES you will find the opportunity to explore your passion and skills in various projects where you are responsible for the analysis of met-ocean conditions, coastal morphology and the design of innovative and nature based solutions for challenges at our coasts, estuaries and oceans. Critical use of numerical models like Swan, Xbeach, Telemac, Swash and Delft3D is a key element to support your solutions, as well as knowledge of programming in python, natural dynamics and system analysis. You have an open mindset in search for innovation.

Do you recognize yourself into this profile? You have:

• MSc or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Oceanography, Geology or a related field;
• Knowledge of numerical modelling in aquatic environments, related with waves, tides and sediment transport in open coasts and estuaries;
• Numerical modelling and analysis (1D, 2D and 3D) of waves, tides, sediment transport and bottom evolution;
• Knowledge of numerical models SWAN, SWASH, XBeach, Delft3D is a plus;
• Computer programming ability e.g. Matlab, Python, R, Fortran90, etc.
• Experience applying statistical data analyses.
• A sense for independency and responsibility.
• A flexible, live-learning growth-mindset and positive attitude.
• Empathy, a constructive attitude to deal with different viewpoints and opinions.
• An interest in adventure in the unknown; ready to be a pioneer.
